The curved mating surface increases performance by distributing     the load over a greater area.
The increased contact area keeps the components tight which     eliminates slippage that can loosen the connection.
Allows the use of a 5/8˜ rod with a standard 7/8˜ hillside washer     which increases web loading capability.
